Three options

Business valuations can be undertaken according to various levels of scope which determine the amount of work and verification undertaken to prepare the valuation opinion. “APES 225 - Valuation Services” is issued by the Accounting Professional & Ethical Standards Board and determines the requirements for each type of scope.

You can find a copy of the standard at https://apesb.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/APES_225_Sep_2023.pdf

Our process is simple and planned out.

FAQs

What's included in the fixed price?

1

Your fixed price covers everything described in this proposal — the annual wealth meeting, financial statements, tax return preparation for the business and owners, FBT strategy and return (if applicable), and your year-end tax planning session. There are no hidden extras for standard work within scope. If something falls outside the agreed scope, we'll always discuss it with you before any additional fees apply.

What do I need to provide and when?

2

We'll guide you through exactly what we need and when as each stage approaches. Generally this includes access to your accounting software, bank statements, and records of any major transactions during the year. We make the process as straightforward as possible — and we'll always give you plenty of notice so nothing comes as a surprise.

What if my circumstances change during the year?

How is this different from just getting a tax return done?

How do I get started?

A tax return looks backward — it records what happened. This service looks forward too. We start the year with a planning meeting to set financial targets and strategies, check in throughout the year, and actively work to minimise your tax before 30 June. You're not just getting compliance done, you're getting a team that helps you make better financial decisions all year long.

Do you work with my bookkeeper or accounting software?

What if I have more than one entity in my structure (e.g. a trust and company)?

The annual wealth meeting is a dedicated session held in July or August where we sit down together to plan the financial year ahead. We review your results from the prior year, set targets for the business and the owners personally, and map out the key strategies we'll implement together. It's a forward-looking conversation — not a review of last year's paperwork.

Yes. We work with all major cloud accounting platforms including Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks. If you have a bookkeeper, we're happy to liaise with them directly — in fact, a well-run bookkeeping function makes everything smoother and more cost-effective for you. We'll let you know early on if we see anything in your books that needs attention.

Life and business don't always go to plan — and that's exactly why having an ongoing relationship matters. If your circumstances change significantly (a new staff member, a major purchase, a change in structure), just let us know and we'll advise you on the implications and adjust our approach accordingly. For changes that materially affect the scope of work, we'll have an open conversation about any impact on your fee.

Many of our clients operate through multiple entities — a common example is a discretionary trust with a corporate trustee, or a holding company alongside a trading entity. This proposal is scoped for the entities listed within it. If you have additional entities that need their own financial statements or tax returns, we'll prepare a separate fee for those. We'll always look at your structure as a whole to make sure everything is working together efficiently.

Simply accept this proposal and we'll be in touch to get things underway. We'll send through a short onboarding checklist and schedule your first meeting. If you have any questions before accepting, you're welcome to reach out — we're happy to talk it through.
